In response to the demolition of a two-story multifunctional building that was at the site chosen for the National Cathedral project, Waterstone Realty Limited has filed a lawsuit against the Lands Commission.
In its writ of summons, the plaintiff, a real estate business, said that the defendant, the Lands Commission, had forcibly taken possession of and destroyed its apartment in 2018.
As a result, they are asking the Lands Commission for USD $4,721,000.00, which represents the market value of the two-story multifunctional building.
Waterstone Realty Limited sues the government for $4.7 million over the construction of the National Cathedral. In addition, Waterstone Realty Limited is seeking the following sums as damages:
“The defendant to pay the plaintiff the sum of USD$995,508.52 being the difference in terms of the established market value of the plaintiff’s property on the land being the sum of USD$4,721,000.00 and the actual value of the property as of May 2018 when the defendant repossessed the property being the value of the two-story multipurpose building,” the court’s order stated.
A $54,000 payment for rent loss is one of the damages requested.
Additionally, starting on June 1, 2018, Waterstone requests an interest in the aforementioned sums.
