US rapper, Lil Wayne denied entry into UK

Rapper Lil Wayne’s performance at a British music festival this weekend has been cancelled, according to the festival’s organizers, since he was denied admission to the country.

The five-time Grammy Award winner, who was convicted of weapons possession in 2010 and given a one-year prison sentence, was slated to perform at the Strawberries & Creem event on Saturday.

Now, Ludacris will take the stage.

Lil Wayne will no longer be able to play at the event on June 18 due to extraordinary circumstances that are beyond our control or influence, festival organizers stated in a statement on Wednesday.

“Lil Wayne’s admission to the UK has been denied… This abrupt, unfavorable decision leaves us feeling quite upset. The timing of the decision is obviously unpleasant for everyone involved, and we have gotten very little notice.

According to the event, Lil Wayne’s concert would have been his first in the United Kingdom in 14 years.
