UK High Commissioner: My issue concerning IGP is in the past.

The alleged conflict between Dr. George Akufo-Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), and Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner to Ghana, has apparently been settled.

“From my perspective, that is the past. A misunderstanding occurred… Our relationship is too significant to let something like that interfere with it. I’d like to reassure everyone that it hasn’t and won’t, she said.

This was revealed by Mrs. Harriet Thompson on JoyNews’ The Probe.

It should be recalled that Mrs. Thompson tweeted on May 17 that Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the organizer of the #FixTheCountry Movement, had been detained once more for a moving violation while on route to court. I’m looking forward to following this.

The post came after social activist Mr. Oliver Barker-Vormawor was taken into custody for violating traffic laws.

IGP George Akufo Dampare responded to the tweet with a four-page letter, which can be summed up in four Akan words: “Di wo fie asm,” which means “learn to maintain within the limitations that concerns you.”

The UK High Commissioner emphasized the value of the UK’s relationship with Ghana once the matter was addressed.

She said, “It’s better that it stays that way.”

“The partnership between the UK and the Ghana Police Service is crucial. It dates back a long time. Recently, we have trained police detectives in the field of combating explosive devices, and that effort unquestionably continues as part of the security discourse we have been having, according to Mrs. Thomson.
