Unnamed Premier League footballer who was detained on rape allegations won’t face a suspension, according to his club.
The football player was first detained earlier this month on charges of rape before being taken into custody once more on charges of two more attacks on a separate victim. The Premier League footballer who has not been named has refuted the accusations leveled against him.
Although he may still “fulfill his professional duties,” the player’s club has assured The Athletic that he won’t be banned by the organization. “We are aware of the claims, which are the focus of an ongoing police investigation,” the club stated.
“We can confirm that the athlete, who is out on police bail while police investigate, rejects the charges. There are no charges pending, thus the athlete is free to fulfill his professional obligations, including authorized travel.
“We have adhered to our safeguarding policies and procedures and take our obligations and duties seriously.
Despite Mason Greenwood being suspended by Manchester United after his arrest on charges of rape and violence, the decision was made.
After a player was detained on suspicion of engaging in child sex offenses, another club suspended him. Benjamin Mendy, who has denied nine sexual offenses, including rape accusations against seven women, has also been suspended by Manchester City.
