Police releases Officer Kweku Nyame’s body to family for burial

The Ghana Police Service has finally released the body of the late Lance Corporal Stephen Kwaku Nyame to the family for burial.

The Police Administration notified the public in March 2022 that two policemen were killed in an intelligence-led operation in Ashaiman, one of them was Mr Nyame.
“Police conducted an intelligence-led field operation at a gang hideaway in connection with the bullion van thefts investigation.”

“During the raid at Borteyman near Ashaiman, there was an exchange of gunshots, and two police officers, Constable Reindolph Gyimah Ansah and Corporal Stephen Kwaku Nyame, who had been arrested in connection with the bullion van robberies were shot and pronounced dead on arrival at the Police hospital for treatment,” according to a section of the statement dated March 8, 2022.

The revelation came as a shock to the Nyame family, who denied the deceased’s involvement in any illegal activity.

They said that the police took Mr. Nyame’s life out of jealousy, and that they requested the late officer’s body for burial.

However, according to Angel FM, the late Lance Corporal’s remains has been transferred to his family for burial.

The family has set June 11, 2022 as the date for their beloved’s funeral and burial rites in Nsawam.
