Number of advertised jobs shoot up by 11.7% – Bank Of Ghana

The number of jobs advertised in particular print and online media, which serves as a partial indicator of labor demand in the economy, grew in October 2022 in comparison to the same month a year earlier.

The Bank of Ghana’s data shows that 3,055 job advertisements were reported compared to 2,734 for the same period in 2021, an increase of 11.7% year over year.

In comparison to the 2,611 jobs that were listed in September 2022, there were 17.0% more open positions in October 2022.

Cumulatively, over the first 10 months of 2022, there were 26,595 total positions posted, down from 29,380 during the same period in 2021, a 9.5% decrease.

Less SSNIT contributions from the private sector

While this was going on, the total number of private sector SSNIT contributors, a measure of job circumstances, slightly decreased to 881,139 in September 2022.

In contrast, 881,325 were employed during the same time period in 2021.

The total number of private sector SSNIT contributors declined on a monthly basis from the 915,582 people recorded in August 2022 by 3.8%.

The total number of private sector contributors increased overall for the first three quarters of 2022 by 8.5% to 8,411,419 from 7,750,950 recorded over the same time in 2021.
