The Director General was reportedly being held by police for alleged fraud, according to Muftawu Nabila Abdulai of Joy Sports, who was at the police station. This is because the NSA failed to pay Mum and Sons company for supplying the authority with new year gifts in January of this year.
However, reported efforts to receive payments proved futile forcing the company to first, report the NSA to EOCO, and later to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, before involving the Ghana Police Service after it emerged that a different company had been entered as the winner of the contract to provide the hampers.
The authority’s director, Prof. Twumasi, as well as his putative cousin, Procurement Officer Ohene Twumasi, and secretary Afia Serebour received invitations from the police.
While Prof accepted the invitation on Friday morning, Afia reported to the police on Thursday but was held in detention. With their attorneys, they all headed to the police station.
