Netflix has cautioned users about the gruesome nature of its new Jeffrey Dahmer series after discovering that many viewers could not make it past the first episode.
Indicted for the murder of 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, Dahmer was found guilty. He also consumed some of his victims’ flesh.
Many viewers were unaware of the series’ potential for violence.
Additionally, some viewers noted that the majority of Dahmer’s victims were LGBTQ+ POC.
Few have done it before, but the series does a unique job of exploring the aforementioned detail.
According to Rashad Robinson, one of the show’s creators, “Dahmer” is also a story of victims and the effects that his heinous deeds, along with the authorities’ incompetence, had on the neighborhood.
According to Robinson, “this is fundamentally a tale of profound and systemic injustice, of people who suffered, and all the ways in which society failed them.”
