Marwako apologizes for food poisoning, foots medical bills of victims

Management of Marwako Restaurant has issued an unqualified apology to customers affected by suspected food poisoning from its East Legon branch.

The company has also taken on all of the affected consumers’ medical expenditures.

Amin Lamptey, the company’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed this in Accra.

Marwako Restaurant has apologized to the victims, according to Mr. Lamptey.

“We visited some of our clients in the hospital, and we visited those who were discharged at home.” We helped with some of their hospital fees. On Saturday and Sunday evenings, the major event began. We have accepted responsibility for everything and apologized to the victims.”

The East Legon branch of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) was closed earlier today due to the incident.

“The FDA has taken notice of public concerns concerning probable food poisoning at the East Legon Branch of Marwarko Restaurant,” the FDA said in a tweet.

We’ve shut down the eatery and launched an inquiry with other relevant agencies.”

“We want to reassure the public that the matter will be properly reviewed and necessary action will be taken,” the statement said. In addition, FDA is ensuring that its protocols are strictly followed in order to prevent any future harm to the public.”

Marwako has been making headlines over the past few days after one Twitter account (@deezydothis) claimed that Marwako caused him the worst food illness he’d ever experienced.
