Martin Kpebu calls for resignation of Akufo-Addo, Bawumia

According to him, the President’s anti-corruption drive has subsequently been abandoned.

Mr. Kpebu asserted that the Vice President and President must resign as a result of their failure to address the canker.

He said on Joy News’ Newsfile that “[President] Akufo-Addo vowed to make corruption unappealing and here is the situation he is not doing anything about it.”

We want to give someone else a chance because he has demonstrated his incapacity, and [Vice President] Bawumia has also demonstrated his incapacity. The President can go of his own will, and that would be ideal.

His request follows the publication of a report on corruption by the Ghana Statistical Service and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).

The Ghana Police Service and Judiciary were included in the report along with other governmental and commercial organizations that were corrupt.

According to the research, bribes totaled GH5 billion last year alone, and 26.7% of public sector employees participated in bribery activities.

According to Mr. Kpebu, given Ghana’s high level of corruption right now, it would be appropriate for the President and Vice President to voluntarily step down.

“History would forgive [President] Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia for all the rots they have superintended if they resign today. They will receive the best applause.

And Ghanaians would get a fresh chance to try someone else to combat corruption, he said.
