A young guy who assaulted a fire officer has been given a three-month prison sentence by the Ejisu Magistrate Court.
The young man received a GHC 10,000 fine in addition to his jail sentence.
According to reports, the incident allegedly happened on September 7 in front of the Ejisu Shell Filling Station when the Fire Officer instructed a vehicle to avoid letting a passenger out at an unapproved location.
The young man, who claimed to be a “loading kid,” then requested the driver to defy the fire officer’s instructions, complaining that the Taskforce’s members were making their jobs difficult.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said in a statement that before the fire officer could speak, the “loading boy” smacked him in the face, drawing the attention of other fire service members who were nearby.
As soon as they arrived on the scene, the cops quickly apprehended the young man and turned him over to the police for additional processing.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has thus issued a warning to the public to refrain from attacking any of its employees while they are performing their jobs.
