Man electrocuted to death for attempting to steal ECG cables in Kumasi

According to reports, the deceased attempted to steal some electrical cables that provide power to the neighborhood before he tragically passed away.

According to reports, on Friday, August 5, 2022, at dawn, two young males went to station “A” of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) at Ridge to steal busbar isolators, but the first one was electrocuted and the other managed to flee.

The thief suffered several burns as a result of the electrocution, and the surge of power through his body rendered him lifeless when he was taken to the hospital.

Preliminary investigations showed that the suspect tampered with the cable to break it, and unfortunately for the young man, he got electrocuted and killed quickly, according to the Ashanti Regional Director of ECG, Ing. David Boadi Asamoah.

He pleaded on Ghanaians engaging in such behavior to stop, warning that “anyone found will be dealt with in accordance with the law.”
