He made this claim despite a viral video that showed officers dragging him to the ground and abusing him.

When he was caught while riding a tricycle, police believed he had marijuana on him.

The suspect denied having the substance while heard screaming for his life.

Mr. Abekah admitted to being handled roughly by the police when presented with the video evidence, but he claimed there was nothing else to it.

He claimed that after realizing there was nothing wrong with him, they released him.

“I fell over when they [the police] had me in their custody… When I fell, a police officer raised me and checked to make sure I wasn’t hurt. That’s how it transpired.

Since then, the Police Professional Standards Bureau has started looking into the event.

Inspector Prince Awuah and G/Cpl. John Ahiamata, both of the Divisional MTTD in Asankrangwa, were named as the officers involved.
