This crucial decision was made on Friday, December 2, 2022, which also happens to be Farmers’ Day, by the actor and politician who also happens to be a devoted farmer.
He used his Facebook page to honor Ghanaian farmers on this day set aside to emphasize the value of their line of work to the growth and survival of the nation.
Let’s put more emphasis on value addition on Farmers Day than on exporting our raw resources and importing them as completed items. Let’s begin exporting and adding value. Happy Farmers Day to everybody! Dumelo composed.
He recently began what he called “Operation Feed Ourselves,” a project he hopes would reduce Ghana’s imports of products by 50% over the next six years.
He clarified that the initiative’s primary goal was to increase food production throughout Ghana, with a particular emphasis on the Guan district and the country’s northern regions, which produce rice, tomatoes, onions, and maize.
On Monday, November 7, 2022, Dumelo posted on his Facebook page that “another key factor is to push Ghanaians to give value to what we make and use Made in Ghana items.”
It’s a terrific moment to be a farmer, he said, urging Ghanaians to “join hands to make this work.”
Ghanaians reacted to the message in a variety of ways, praising him and urging him to keep attracting young people to agriculture.
