On Monday, June 13, a demonstration by pupils at the school in the Ashanti Region turned fatal when police allegedly sprayed tear gas at them.
According to reports, at least 30 kids were brought to the hospital after collapsing.
The youngsters were protesting repeated car accidents in front of their school by blocking the road in front of it.
They said they had made multiple requests to the appropriate authorities to install speed ramps, but to no effect.
The cops were summoned to interfere during their demonstration. To remove the roadblock and disperse the demonstrating throng, authorities used tear gas, which knocked several of the students out and left others in excruciating pain.
Ambulances were dispatched to bring the injured pupils to the hospital, according to Citinewsroom.com.
When some parents learned of the situation, they invaded the school to ensure their children’s safety.
“I heard that there was a brawl at the school, and that the cops shot and beat the pupils. I heard the cops chasing them down and bashing the females in their dorm rooms. I feel terrible witnessing schoolchildren pass out on the floor. Here, everyone is screwed up “According to citinewsroom.com, a parent remarked.
Meanwhile, police presence at the school has increased in order to prevent the conflict from escalating.
