On August 10th of this year, multiple girls accused Deezy of abusing them sexually on social media. The Ghanaian socialite allegedly bugged the victims for sex and went as far as to email them pictures of his manhood, according to the victims.
Some of the victims said in a now-famous Twitter thread that Deezy gets angry and blocks people on social media if they don’t respond to his nude photos.
Deezy was demoted by the Afrochella organizers, the Culture Management Group (CMG), as a result of the accusations. The popular music festival’s organizers stated in a press release that they “have zero tolerance for any sort of harassment, discrimination, or violence.”
We promise you that we are analyzing all materials connected to these latest charges and that we do not support misconduct toward women. We will disclose our resolution and next steps in the coming days with regard to our community and in accordance with our zero-tolerance policy. Edward (Deezy) Asafu Adjaye will leave his leadership role and duties at Afrochella effective immediately while we complete our internal review, the statement said.
However, up until a few minutes ago this evening, September 14, 2022, Deezy had remained mute regarding his suspension and the sexual accusations. Since then, he has apologized to the accusers and his supporters without reservation.
“It is past time for an apology. However, it was important to take some time to truly consider and think on everything that had occurred. First and foremost, I want everyone to know that I’m sincerely sorry and ashamed of everything that happened, especially the women who received those communications “said he.
He further said “I did not behave respectably at all, and that is unacceptable behavior from me or anyone else for that matter. There are no words that can possible explain how remorseful I am but I feel the best apology is altered conduct and so from now on, I will dedicate myself to being much more respectful and careful in all my dealings”.
He closed the message by saying, “Everyone of you deserved much better from me and that’s all I will aim for moving ahead.”
