Despite flooding occurrences at some of its treatment plants around the nation, the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has guaranteed customers in the Greater Accra, Northern, and Upper West regions of regular service.
Rainwater has inundated the pump building of the Jambusi plant, damaging the transformers that power the Nawuni-Dalun treatment plant.
This promise was given by Stanley Martey, the company’s communications director, in an interview with Joy FM on Monday.
“Affected places will have low pressures, but there will still be water,” he added. “Water demand management is something that needs to be done inside the metropolis so that you can share the water equitably, so that is under control.”
Regarding the Weija dam, Mr. Martey stated that GWCL had to open four spill gates as part of the Weija treatment in order to preserve the dam’s integrity.
