Osei Kojo Forson, 42, was apprehended by the Akyem Kade police in the Kwaebibirem Municipality of the Eastern Region when he entered a cemetery carrying a pump action gun.
Everyone at the ceremony ran wildly as the suspect fired several warning shots and threatened to kill Osaaberima Agyare Tenadu II, the chief of Akyem Kade.
On Saturday, Mr. Forson allegedly threatened to kill anyone who dared to prevent him from discharging his gun, but it is unclear why he did so.
The suspect has been given police bail and will appear in court on Tuesday, according to Superintendent Agyenim Boateng, the Akyem Kade Police Commander, who verified the terrible incident.
Seth Antwi Boasiako, the chief executive of Kwaebibirem Municipality, announced to the media that the municipality’s security system needs to be strengthened.
Mr. Boasiako regretted that the incident on Saturday had instilled dread in the community, particularly after they learned that the culprit had been given bail.
Therefore, he has requested that Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector-General of Police, send his men to the region to restore peace.
