GPRTU to increase transport fares by 19%

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has announced that, as of October 29, transportation costs will increase by 19%.

The recent increases in fuel prices, along with soaring inflation and the present devaluation of the Cedi, are to blame for the increase, according to Godfred Abulbire, general secretary of the union.

He said that the Union will publish a statement later today to alert commuters of the most recent fare adjustments during an interview on the AM Show on Wednesday.

He claimed that the 19% increase was decided upon by the Union following a lengthy conversation with President Nana Akufo-Addo and other transportation providers around the nation.
