GOIL denies cheating consumers; assures them value for money

Leading oil marketing firm GOIL vehemently denies defrauding customers.

They have been given a sense of value for their money.

This comes in response to a media story on the suspected shutdown of a Ridge Service Station owned by the firm in Sunyani, in the Bono Region.

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) did not lock the Sunyani Ridge Service station, contrary to what was “falsely” reported in the media, according to a statement from GOIL.

When using the Visuguage, two malfunctioning nozzles at the Ridge station were observed to be giving variable readings at different times (10-litre-can). During the visit, this was explained to the NPA team.

Again, after the NPA visit, the Ridge Service station, which has 10 nozzles, has been operating and servicing clients with the eight remaining nozzles.

Additionally, it stated that “the two in question nozzles had changing readings (over delivering and under delivering) that were being rectified by qualified mechanics before the NPA visit.”

Below is the statement:

Our attention has been drawn to a media report involving the alleged closure of our Ridge Service Station in Sunyani and wish to explain as follows:

  1. The Sunyani Ridge Service station was not locked by the NPA as was falsely portrayed in the media. The reported issue at the Ridge station involved two faulty nozzles which were giving fluctuating readings at various times when using the Visuguage (10-litre-can). This was explained to the NPA team during the visit.
  2. The Ridge Service station itself which has 10 nozzles, has been open and serving customers with the 8 remaining nozzles since the NPA visit.
  3. GOIL also categorically denies cheating customers. The two nozzles in question had fluctuating readings (over delivering and underdelivering) which were being fixed by certified mechanics before the NPA visit. The faulty nozzles have since been repaired awaiting certification.

As a responsible Oil Marketing Company, GOIL assures the public that it will always ensure consumers get value for money for products bought from our service stations.
