GLC will be compelled to withdraw recognition of some institutions offering LL.B – Chief Justice

At the graduation ceremony for new attorneys summoned to the bar on Friday, Nov. 11, Justice Anin Yeboah, who serves as the chairman of the GLC, urged the graduates to protect and defend the honor of the profession.

“With a view to upholding the sanctity of this profession and improving standards, the General Legal Council will be compelled to withdraw the recognition of some institutions offering the LL.B program that lack the necessary lecturers and infrastructure,” according to Act 32’s powers grant to it by Parliament.

The GLC is the major organization in charge of regulating legal education in Ghana, according to the general position of Ghanaian law.

On Friday, more than 80 students who successfully completed the Part Two Professional Law Course graduated.

One candidate, whose name will not be revealed, who passed her exams and was scheduled to be admitted to the bar, however, fell off the radar along the way. She is said to have received a letter from the GLC informing her of her suspension following a complaint that she had been seen in videos acting in a manner that was “unbecoming of an applicant who is to be called to the bar.”
