To advance to the third meeting with Mexican Emmanuel Navarette, Ghanaian Isaac Dogboe, also known as “The Royal Storm,” overcame American Joet Gonzalez in the WBO featherweight title eliminator.
Prior to Gonzalez challenging Dogboe in the middle rounds, the Ghanaian had a superb start to the fight, winning the first three rounds.
Gonzalez rushed Doghoe and won the fourth round with head and body blows.
But The Royal Storm was firm and followed the instructions from his cornermen properly.
Before the start of the final round, Dogboe’s trainer, Barry Hunter, gave him some advice. This advice encouraged him to win the round and finish better and stronger.
Gonzalez won the fight by a score of 96-94 with one judge giving Dogboe’s score of 96-94.
With the delicious victory, Isaac Dogboe will compete for the WBO featherweight championship against either Rey Vargas or Emmanuel Navarrete.
The former SWAG Sports Personality of the Year and former world champion from Ghana improved upon his three prior fights, much to the delight of his trainer Barry Hunter.
Ghanaians cheered wildly as they watched the bout. The executive board members and head of the Ghana Boxing Authority, Mr. Abraham Neequaye, watched it live on television and celebrated Dogboe’s victory by dancing.
