Ghana to send trained nurses to the UK – Agyemang Manu

This will be similar to an existing agreement with Barbados, where he claimed Ghanaian nurses thrive, according to Mr. Agyemang Manu.

On Monday, December 5, during the discussion of the 2023 Budget on the House Floor, the politician for Dormaa Central made this public.

After receiving cabinet clearance, we are going to sign a memorandum of understanding with the British government to start sending nurses there for training, employment, and return home after three years.

“The small amount of money that the UK government will give to Ghana will be useful. When the contract is completed, we’ll probably receive more than 1,000 pounds for each departing nurse to help the healthcare system in Ghana. ”

In March, Barbados welcomed 200 additional Ghanaian nurses to help with the island nation’s workforce requirements.

The Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Motley, thanked the administration for providing assistance to her nation’s health sector in a speech.

A contract for the hiring of nurses from Ghana was signed by Barbados 2019 and Ghana.

Over 100 Ghanaian nurses were initially hired as a result of the arrangement, which was signed at the Jubilee House when Mia Mottley paid a courtesy call on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during her official visit to Ghana.

Concerns had been raised about the relocation because it had been believed that the nurses may have been better integrated into Ghana’s Health Service.
