Felix Afena-Gyan, a striker from Ghana, has agreed to a long-term contract with AS Roma of Serie A.
Until June 30, 2026, the 19-year-old signed a new four-year contract.
The youthful, talented attacker has played 22 times for the Giallorossi thus far, scoring twice.
“I am incredibly happy to have signed this deal,” Afena-Gyan said. “Ever since I joined this club, my goal was to make the first team, and since I accomplished that, my life has changed significantly.”
“Now I simply need to focus on getting better; I’m motivated to start the new season in the best way possible.”
After joining the club’s development program at the beginning of 2021, Felix swiftly advanced from the Under-18s to the Primavera team and was subsequently called up to Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad at the start of the 2021–22 season.
A few weeks after making his professional debut in October 2021 against Cagliari, he scored two late goals in a memorable replacement appearance against Genoa to open his account for the team.
After a tense playoff victory over Nigeria, he later went on to make his international debut for Ghana, helping his nation qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
Felix has a lot of room to grow, and under Jose Mourinho’s direction, who is crucial to the development of our young players, he will have the chance to maximize that potential, according to the club’s general manager, Tiago Pinto.
This contract extension is another another illustration of how our first-team squad and our youth system are becoming more and more integrated.
