GFA suspends 2022/23 Ghana Premier League over court injunction

The betPawa Premier League has been postponed by the Ghana Football Association.

This comes in response to a Motion on Notice for Injunction that Ashantigold SC filed on Wednesday, September 28, in the Human Rights High Court and served yesterday afternoon on counsel for the GA.

The league has been put on pause by the Association following receipt of the Motion until the court rules on a Motion on Notice for Injunction on October 14, 2022.

The GFA subsequently informed all sponsors, partners, and clubs of this choice.

All parties involved in the league, including the sponsors, partners, and clubs who have made investments in it, the players whose livelihoods depend on it, the match officials, administrators, officials, and fans of the league and the clubs, are urged by the association to maintain their composure.

The Association will work to secure compensation for the Premier League’s fast restoration and prevent further disruptions to the schedule during this World Cup year.
