Former President John Mahama donates food to Aplate victims and GHC 5,000 to the relief fund.(watch)

Former President John Mahama has urged President Nana Akufo-Addo to act quickly and seek financial compensation for the Apiate Explosion victims.

He feels that the State, not the victims, should be in charge of the work and the pursuit of recompense.

At a town hall meeting with locals, explosion victims, Deputy Lands and Natural Resources Minister Benito Bio, and Ellembelle MP Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah, Mr. Mahama delivered the announcement.

Mr. Mahama had never been there before the incident in January 2022.

During his visit, the former president gave away 100 cartons of tin tomatoes, 100 cartons of tin fish, and 100 mattresses in addition to 500 sacks of rice.

Additionally, he gave the Relief Committee GHS 5,000.

The Deputy Minister urged the victims to file a lawsuit against the mining business rather than relying on the government.

Wisdom Cudjoe, a member of parliament for Prestea Huni Valley, made a plea for greater funding to aid the Apiate Relief Committee meet the locals’ fundamental requirements.
