Ex-GFA chairman wants Chris Hughton named as new Black Stars coach

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a board member of Hearts of Oak, has urged the FA’s present administration to name Chris Hughton as the new coach of the Black Stars.

Otto Addo left his position as head coach of the Black Stars after the team was eliminated from the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The Black Stars are now without a head coach.

After three games, Ghana earned three points to finish last in Group H.

Dr. Tamakloe, a former head of the Ghana Football Association [GFA], wants the former manager of Newcastle United and Brighton to be given the team as the new trainer because the Ghana FA has not yet appointed a new trainer for the team.

In an interview with Daily Graphic, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe expressed his opinion that the former Tottenham Hotspurs manager possesses all the necessary skills to lead the team.

Hughton is the only person with the qualifications to elevate the team to the appropriate level, he continued.

Kurt Okraku, President of the GFA, has also stated that the GFA is not in a rush to name a new coach for the Black Stars.

By the first quarter of 2023, when the squad would play in a qualifier for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Angola in Luanda, Mr. Okraku intimated that the next coach might already be in place.

Otto Addo appointed Chris Hughton as the Black Stars’ technical adviser.
