Erik Ten Hag: Manchester United needs quality players

United lost 4-0 against Brentford and now has no points after two Premier League games after giving up four goals in the opening 35 minutes.

The scenario is a “tough process,” Old Trafford manager Ten Hag of the Netherlands told Sky Sports in May.

He declared, “We must set greater standards than what we did today.

“As a team, we are going through a challenging journey. You anticipate a distinct beginning. Not at all what we anticipated.

“We require fresh players. We require talented athletes. We are working on it and will use whatever means possible to get them to attend.

Since the transfer market began, United has been actively looking for new players after a dismal season last year and a shocking loss to Brighton last Sunday at home.

The main aim of Ten Hag has been Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, but the 25-year-old has reportedly said he would rather join Chelsea if he left the Nou Camp.

Marko Arnautovic, a former striker for Stoke and West Ham, and interest in Adrien Rabiot, a midfielder for Juventus, both drew strong opposition from United’s fan base and were abandoned in favor of other players.

“The group must assume accountability. I feel very bad for the supporters because they gave us everything, but we let them down, said Ten Hag.

We failed to accept responsibility for our actions on the field as a team and as individuals. I urged them to play with conviction and accept accountability for their performance. We must focus on that.

“The management is also accountable. He bears primary responsibility, which I will accept and address.
