Seven cybercriminals from Niger have been taken into custody by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).
The arrest was made on September 26, 2022, according to a Facebook post from EOCO on Monday.
The Economic and Organized Crime Office carried out an intelligence-led swoop at a home in Manhean, Obeyeyie in the Greater Accra Region on September 26, 2022.
Parts of the post indicated that “28 Nigerians were brought into custody at the conclusion of the exercise, suspected of engaging in Prohibited Cyber Activities.”
After the arrested individuals were screened, “21 of the persons were determined to be victims of Human Trafficking from Nigeria to Ghana,” according to the EOCO.
They continued, “While investigations are ongoing, the remaining seven have since been remanded into lawful custody.”
