Chris Hughton backed for Black Stars vacant job after Otto Addo’s resignation

Following Otto Addo’s retirement, Augustine Arhinful, a legend of Ghana, has endorsed Chris Hughton for the vacant Black Stars coaching position.

After the Black Stars were eliminated from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following a 2-0 loss to Uruguay, Addo resigned from his position.

The Black Stars needed a draw or win against Uruguay to proceed to the last 16 stage after defeating South Korea in their second group game, however they were unable to do so.

The former Ghanaian international claimed in an interview that it would not be inappropriate if the Ghana FA chose Chris Hughton to serve as the team’s manager.

Chris Hughton was a member of the World Cup technical staff, and he said on Vision 1 FM, “I feel whatever he has learned, he has learned.

Despite these and other difficulties, I am confident that if given the position, he will be able to stand on his own two feet because, in my experience, others have whispered encouraging things in his ear and he is aware of his capabilities.

If he gets the position, it won’t be out of place, he continued.

Former Newcastle United and Brighton manager Chris Hughton served as the Black Stars’ technical adviser.

Otto Addo’s replacement is being planned, according to Mark Addo, vice president of the Ghana Football Association.
