King Promise, Cina Soul, Oxlade, Joeyboy, BNXN, Lojay, and Cranium are among the artists on Sarkodie’s Jamz, but track number 9, “country side,” with Black Sherif, has Ghanaians especially enthused.
The “Coachella” hitmaker explained how breakout act Black Sherif landed on the tracklist for his new album, Jamz, in an interview with Accra-based 3 Music Network on Thursday.
He claims that the only things that motivate him to work together are conviction and that he hardly ever approaches other musicians to work on his projects.
“If I want to do a song, it is rare that I would think that oh, this boy is the new hottest artiste I want to put him on,” he said.
The rapper described how Blacko made a last-minute request to be included in the project.
Huge congratulations to my superstar Blacko. Landlord I have to be on Jamz is the project that Blacko last-minutely contacted me about. Pull up, I said,” he continued.
He also acknowledged that the direction of that particular song, “Country Side,” was greatly influenced by Black Sherif.
The 10-track album “Jamz” features nine collaborations with well-known African musicians and one solo track.
King Promise is featured in the lead single, “Labadi,” which has already been released.
The massive Black Sherif and “Landlord” Sarkodie duet that Ghanaians have been waiting for has finally happened.
