Black Sherif becomes first Ghanaian artiste to reach 200M+ streams on Boomplay

Black Sherif, a prominent Ghanaian musician, has reached yet another milestone on Boomplay, the continent’s largest music streaming and download service.

Black Sherif is the first artist from Ghana to accomplish this feat on the streaming platform, with 200M total streams.

Blacko has been on a fantastic run since since his “First Sermon” song went viral last year, recently surpassing 100M streams on Boomplay.

His subsequent hits, “Second Sermon” and “Kwaku the Traveller,” earned overwhelmingly positive reviews and praises across Africa, catapulting Blacko to fame.

His debut album, “The Villain I Never Was,” was widely praised when it was released on October 6, 2022.

A few weeks later, it reached 100M streams, with fan favorites from the album including “45,” “Oh Paradise,” “Konongo Zongo,” and “Oil in My Head.”

“Second Sermon,” “Kwaku The Traveller,” and “Soja,” the project’s precursor songs, continue to receive a lot of streams from fans and airplay on radio.

Black Sherif has performed a number of concerts in Ghana and the United Kingdom, and he will go on his formal tour of Africa and other countries early next year.
