Asamoah Gyan has been appointed as Ghana’s tourism ambassador by the government.

Ghana's government has selected ex-Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan as the country's tourism ambassador.

The award was presented to Gyan by Ibrahim Awal, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, at the presentation of the footballer’s book, ‘Legyandary.’
The Minister challenged the veteran striker to promote Ghana during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by using his brand and experience.

“We are bestowing this honor on you as a tourist ambassador for this country, courtesy of the President.” “We want you to be an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup,” Mr. Awal remarked.

“Learn from your mistakes and use them to promote Ghana.” Ghana is not just Africa’s most beautiful country, but also its most appealing. Our sports icons contribute to Ghana’s status as Africa’s most popular brand. We’ll start with you, Asamoah Gyan, to lead the push and make Ghana a very successful brand.”
“In 2019, the President started the Beyond the Return programme, which resulted in nearly one million individuals arriving in Ghana,” he continued. Asamoah Gyan, please assist us attract 2 million tourists to Ghana this year.”

On Saturday, April 30, 2022, Gyan successfully presented his memoir, ‘Legyandary,’ at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.

Stephen Appiah, Abedi Pele, Anthony Baffoe, Emmanuel Adebayor, and El Hadji Diouf were among the football stars that attended the occasion.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, E.T. Mensah, Kennedy Agyapong, and Mahama Ayariga were among the notable politicians in attendance.

Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, a businessman, paid GHc100,000 for the first copy, while Kennedy Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central, paid the same amount for the second copy.

Freedom Jabon Cesar and GFA President Kurt Okraku also spent GHc50,000 at the ceremony to get a copy of the book.
