A fishing boat sinks between Elmina and Sekondi, with the captain’s body discovered and another person still missing.

The body of a fishing vessel skipper who went missing between Elmina and Sekondi has been recovered.

Three more individuals on board the ship were rescued and brought ashore by the Ghana Navy.
However, one other person onboard, thought to be a Fisheries Commission observer, is missing.

The vessel sank between the sea waters of Elmina and Sekondi, with the size of a 50-seater bus.

The three are now being treated., with all of the personnel on board, the Menghxin 11 vessel sank in the early hours of Saturday.
Some of them were able to swim to the Menghxin 6 vessel, which was close.

The team was towing a net that was overflowing with fish.

According to reports, the crew had considerable trouble getting the net full of fish to the boat.

It was pouring strongly with thunderstorms about the same time.

According to the survivors, the vessel lost her balance on one side and sank with the whole crew on board.

The Ghana Navy later joined the rescue attempt, which began with the adjacent freighter Menghxin 6.

 

The Navy has been searching the incident area for any other survivors.

 

The corpse of the vessel’s captain has been discovered thus far, but the observer on board has yet to be found.
